Sparkle into Winter with the latest jewellery trends

The beginning of any new season always represents one of the most exciting points in the fashion calendar. This year, in anticipation of the arrival of winter, the runways were full of exciting new trends ranging from modern, oversized statement pieces to more timeless vintage collections. We’ve rounded up some of our favourites to keep you looking on trend this season.

Neo Parisian

Classic Parisian jewellery was incredibly popular among designers this year, with lots of gold chains and cameo rings appearing en masse. Pearls were also frequently found amongst the big Parisian fashion houses with the precious spheres completing covering chokers, earrings and various hair accessories. Worn subtly or overstated, these are a perfect option if you love vintage jewellery and timeless pieces.

Colourful gemstones

Bright colours were another big focus for Winter 2019, with lots of oversized pieces adorned with colourful gems featuring heavily on the runways. One of the showiest looks this season came from Moschino who dressed his models in oversized gold chain necklaces embellished with massive gems in all colours of the rainbow. However if you prefer a more understated look, simply stick to pieces where one or two colours are dominant.

Statement earrings

Strikingly long and overstated earrings are the favoured style by designers this season. Models frequently appeared in dangling pieces that hung down to their shoulders but the longest of all was a single rhinestone covered earring by Estaban Cortazar that reached all the way to the knee (slightly impractical off the runway!) Decorated with shimmering metal drops and hung with colourful stones, silver was the main colour of choice making these the perfect versatile choice for both daytime and evening wear.

Brooches

Whether big and shiny or dainty and vintage, brooches are making a comeback for Winter 2019. At Toga, oversized colourful brooches gave a splash of colour to minimalist outfits, but the most extravagant look belonged to R13 who completely covered their blazer lapels in a mixture of shiny brooches. However you choose to style them, brooches will remain a timeless staple that have the power to transform any outfit.

Chains

All manners of chains appeared on the runways this year in styles that were both chunky and elegant. At Marni, chains in multiple colours and sizes were interwoven to create one necklace, however Chanel offered a more understated look with a single chain and ornate hanging jewels. Whatever your style, the key with this trend is to not be afraid to layer, mix and match.
