Add some spring to your step with the latest jewellery trends

There’s no better time to refresh and rejuvenate your wardrobe than the arrival of Spring. Yes, we are all stuck at home at the moment, but what better time than now to plan your Spring/Summer jewellery wardrobe and experiment with new styles! So whether you’re leaning towards something bold, or prefer to keep it simple, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite styles to keep you on-trend (even in your own living room) this season.

Colourful Jewellery

Bright colours appeared with renewed affection on the 2020 Spring catwalks which saw an influx of vibrant gemstones covering everything from earrings to bracelets. One of the showiest looks came from Moschino who featured bold multi-coloured costume gemstones set in heavy hammered brass. In contrast, Ulla Johnson’s more romantic style offered candy glass and floral details which felt much more feminine. The key to this trend is to not be afraid to mix your gemstones and metals. In fact, the more colours you incorporate, the easier it is to pair with the range of hues in your wardrobe!

Giant Hoops

It’s safe to say that hoop earrings have never gone out of style, however this year they’ve come back bigger than ever. In the Spring shows, models frequented the runways in giant supersized hoops of gold and flattened brass and designers also chose to get creative with textures and colours. If you’re looking to make a statement this year, giant hoop earrings could be the way to go.

Chunky Chains

It’s not just the hoop earrings that are oversized, chunky chains were also seen replacing daintier jewellery on the runways. Brandon Maxwell dressed his models in giant sparkling chains complete with matching earrings while Zimmerman combined his chains with oversized beaded necklaces. With this trend more is more, so don’t be afraid to get layering and mixing colours and styles.

Seashell Jewellery

In recent years, we’ve seen more of a celebration of the natural world through the fashion lens, particularly in the use of sustainable materials. Seashell jewellery is certainly not a new concept, in fact Prada has made it a core part of their Spring and Summer collections for years. However, this Spring we’ve seen the trend embraced by other designers such as Oscar de la Renta and Marine Serre who dressed their models in seashell necklaces, rings, statement earrings and hair accessories. Worn boldly or subtly, this versatile trend is the perfect style to embrace as we enter the warmer seasons.
