Capturing these special moments can make memories last a lifetime. We’ve put together some top tips below to help brides and grooms-to-be capture the perfect wedding moments:

  • Plan, plan, plan! Of course, photography will most likely be a major part of your day and is something most couples begin thinking about not long after saying ‘Yes!’. The right photographer will do wonders, however it can equally go the opposite way too. Make sure to get recommendations from friends and family, and ask for examples and a portfolio before settling on the right photographer to capture your special moments. These photos will capture joyful memories to last a lifetime, so it is worth putting a lot of thought into. It’s a good idea to have a rough plan of what kind of shots you would like your photographer to shoot on the day – think about the people and moments that matter to you. Don’t be afraid to be picky! As we live in Scotland, it is also a wise idea to have a Plan B in mind. Outdoor photos look great when the sun is shining, although you may not be promised that, so have a backup plan inside the venue and don’t let rain clouds put a dampener on your day.

  • Nowadays, in the age of social media, moments can be transmitted to hundreds of people all over the world in an instant. However, this may not be your wish. If you don’t want any photos of your big day to be shared online, make it clear to your guests prior to and during the day. They should be pleased to respect your privacy to keep your day as special as ever.

  • Don’t forget about those candid moments. A good photographer will capture a range of shots, both natural and posed in keeping with the style you like. Some of the best and most precious photographs are those of candid moments you may never expect. Maybe it’s the look on the Father’s face before he gives his daughter away, the cheeky smile of a flower girl scattering petals, or an intimate moment between the brides and her bridesmaids getting ready in the morning. All of these little moments will bring back smiles happiness and maybe even tears when reflecting back on your special day.

  • Most importantly, enjoy your day! Try not to worry about the small stuff. If there happens to be rain or a flower girl just isn’t in the mood, don’t worry. What’s important is that you remember the happiness when looking back at these photos, so focus on that and great wedding photos will come naturally. Don’t worry about the photographer on your day, he or she is a professional and you should put your trust in them to capture the special moments.
